October 7- St. Emilion – two dozen wines; speaker Olivier Nouoet, President Adams French Vineyards
November 4 – The wines of the Bastianich Family. Speaker will be Joe Bastianich and Lidia will attend. The winemaker from Friuli may also be present.
December 2 – Vintage Champagne with Ed McCarthy.
January 22 – Bordeaux. Another amazing paired Bordeaux tasting (remember the Two Pichons?) organized by Mark Golodetz. Domaine de Chevalier and Ch. Haut Bailly will present veritcals of their wines discussed by principals from the wineries. [Note date is a Friday.]
February 3 – Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. The US leaders of Wine Australia are putting together a tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon from around Australia, including older vintages. Two or three wine makers will be invited to speak.
March 3 – Barolo with Pietro Ratti. Pietro will come to speak to us. He will arrange for wines from each of the main Barolo communes.
April 7 – American Riesling. Peter Sichel and M. David Levin have lined up some fine Rieslings. Speaker is John Martini of Anthony Road Winery–winner of many gold medals–in the Finger Lakes.
May 5 – Taurasi wines with Maurizio De Rosa of Feudi di San Gregorio
June 7 – WMG Annual Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction at the Four Seasons Restaurant.
2008-2009 Year
October 1 – Chenin Blanc in all its Guises: Still, Sparkling and Sweet. Speaker: Roger Dagorn, MS of Chanterelle.
November 5 – Wines of Puglia. Speaker: Charles Sciccolone
December 3 – Champagne. Speaker: Ed McCarthy
Jan 7, 2009 - Cabernet Franc: Long Island, the Loire and Canada. Speaker: Paul Grieco of Hearth and Insieme restaurants and Terroir wine bar and Roman Roth of Wolffer Estate Vineyards on Long Island.
Feb 4 – Amarone! Verticals from three or four producers. Speaker: Sandro Boscaini (Masi).
March 4 – Portuguese Wines: Indigenous Grape Varieties. Speaker: Prof. Michael Weiss of the CIA.
April 1 - Riesling from Austria. Speaker Steve Miller of Lauber Imports
SPECIAL EVENT: April 27 (Monday) – The Two Pichons. A matched tasting of six vintages and two older, library wines from Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron. Speakers are: For Baron-Christian Seely, who is in charge of all of AXA-Millésimes properties including Baron. For Comtesse- M. Gildas d’Ollone, Managing Director.
June 14 – Annual Dinner and 2009 Wine Writers’ Hall of Fame Induction. Del Posto restaurant
