Annual dinner reports

The annual dinner at the Four Seasons restaurant was a big success! Over 100 people attended to witness and celebrate the latest class of inductees into the Wine Writers’ Hall of Fame. Dan Berger attended and Bartholomew Broadbent accepted on behalf of his father Michael. Karen MacNeil was also inducted as was André Simon with a posthumous award.

Taurasi lunch summed up; annual dinner approaches

The theme of May’s lunch was Taurasi, Campania’s red DOCG wine, which is usually 100% from the Aglianico grape.

Bastianich wines wrapped up; Champagne next

For the November lunch, members of the Guild were delighted to welcome Lidia and Joe Bastianich. We have held our monthly lunches at Felidia for many years now.

Austrian Riesling – and the Pichon countdown!

We Wine Media Guild members are counting down the days until the unprecedented Pichon-Pichon showdown later this month! Excitement is palpable! And in June…the Hall of Fame awards dinner at Del Posto!

But until those reports are filed, you’ll have to content yourselves with these roundups of last week’s tasting of Austrian Riesling. Jodi Stern of Austrian wine importer Vin Divino, and Aldo Sohm, the Austian-born, sommelier to the stars from Le Bernadin, were the speakers!
